Mojito - The Final Word

mojitoI like Mojitos , no, I love Mojitos. However, 1 in 2 times I order a Mojito when I get it it has been messed with somewhat. Some bars like to use Bacardi Limon, they think they are being creative and that it is better, this is a very bad idea. Some bars like to use 7up or Sierra Mist, thinking that sweater is better. Vetoed.

So I looked it up, a Mojito is a Cuban drink. Here is the recipe. Quantities vary, however the ingredients are non-negotiable.

  • 2 oz. (60 mL) Cuban white rum

  • 1 lime (or 2 ounces (60 mL) lime juice)

  • 1 tsp powdered sugar

  • 4 Mint leaves

  • Club soda

Ok, good luck getting Cuban rum. If you have some, use it.

There are a few variations to the recipe.

  • Use Cachaςa, (Brazilian rum), instead of white rum
  • Add mango juice, yummy, but looks not so
  • Add aςai juice, healthy
  • Use Apple Bacardi
  • There are alot more, experiment!

Also, if you can get some split sugar cane, it makes a great garnish that allows you to stir while drinking and even something sweet to chew on.
